Uzunyayla Rural Workshop
Between 23-30 July 2022, a joint workshop was organized with AGU Faculty of Architecture and RWTH Aachen University. Medine Altıok, PhD Candidate from RWTH Aachen University, Faculty of Architecture, Master of Architecture Program; AGU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture faculty members Assist. Prof. Dr. Buket Metin, Ress. Assist Dr. Özlem Kevseroğlu and Lecturer Bahar Elagöz Timur, this workshop was coordinated by 25 master and graduate students.
The workshop started with excursion to Kayseri city center, Talas, Ağırnas, and then continued with field studies of Circassian villages in Uzunyayla region. During the field studies, students examined the cultural landscape values of the region on site. They listened to the migration stories of the villagers. They made detailed architectural observations in Sacayağı and Örenşehir villages and documented and analyzed an old dwelling house. The data obtained in the field were transferred to digital media and a travel diary was prepared and the workshop was concluded with poster presentations.
